History

 

1913 Ludwig Schunk and Karl Ebe found the carbon brush factory Schunk und Ebe OHG in Germany.
   
1947

After the passing of Ludwig Schunk, the Ludwig Schunk Foundation becomes owner. From then on, subsidiaries and holdings are founded in Germany and the rest of the world.

   
1956 Founding of the company Karl Weiss KG in Gießen. The aim is to produce electro-physical installations.
   
1960

Production and delivery of the first climatic test installations.

   
1974 Weiss starts selling climatic test installations in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.
   
1978

Weiss Technik is incorporated into the Schunk Group.

   
1986

Weiss Technik Benelux is founded in Antwerp as a subsidiary of Weiss Umwelttechnik GmbH in Germany.

   
1989

Heraeus Belgium is founded in Louvain to sell climatic chambers and ovens by Weiss and Heraeus Vötsch.

   
1995 Weiss Technik takes over Heraeus Belgium in Liedekerke: Weiss Technik Belgium is born.
   
2013

100 years of progress and success
With approximately 60 subsidiaries and 8300 employees in 28 countries, Schunk has flourished internationally as a reliable and innovatory partner towards its clients as well as as an excellent employer. In 2012, Schunk had a turnover of 930 million euros with its four departments: Schunk Materials, Schunk Sinter Metals, Schunk Sonosystems and Weiss Group.
